I am new to the hobby, the tank is about 8 weeks old. The coral was introduced 3 weeks ago. I noticed a chiton, an Asterina Starfish, aptasia and this. I removed the starfish and will remove the aptasia but what is this in the picture and should I remove it? The clear tube with the white tip.

Although it may be a a feeding tube, keep an eye on it as it is also very similar to hidden cup corals - Phyllangia americana.

Those look like the tentacles of the coral leave them alone.
Thank you, do you know the type of coral this is?

What would point to it struggling? Here's a picture in the lighting. The tank is a fluvol 13.5 mini with stock lighting, I added a mini wavemaker. A zoa, 3 hermits, Scarlett, blue leg and red leg, 2 ocellaris clowns and a nassarius snail. The fish are fed twice a day. 10 hrs of lighting. 79° water temp. What would help the favia thrive?

I see old skeleton covered in algae and signs of current tissue recession. Though I can't tell from a pic if it's recovering or worsening. The existing tissue does not look plump and healthy.

Also the "horn", pointy part of it in the pic has grown, it was much smaller about a week ago. Would that be a sign of recovery?

As long as you are sure it's growth and its not simply peeling off the skeleton. It looks pretty shriveled right now so I'm skeptical. I'd feed it lightly every 3-4 days with reef roids or benereef.

If you haven't started testing calcium and alk, now is a good time.
