i have the 5 workhorse 5 ballast, info can be found here...
http://www.fulham.com/Detail_Ballasts.php?ID=WH5-120-L

right now i have 2x 36watt 50/50 bulbs in there, and planning on chaning it to 1 actinic and 1 10,000k bulb so i could turn them on at different times.

the problem is, both these lights are wired to the same ballast. i could add a switch so i could manually turn them on and off, but how do i wire a timer into my circuit? is there a way?

not exactly the same ballast, but thats how i wired my bulbs to my ballast right now, im using compact fluorescent

I don't think you can do it if they are on the same ballast, cause the circut isn't complete unless both bulbs are wired and come on at the same time....

you cant put a switch or timer after the balast due to the fact that it would arc across the switch and be a major fire hazard

I would recomend using seperate balasts for these lights
