Hi there,
I want to add more magnesium with aquaforest, but if I do it using RODI it raises extremely slowly and my corals consume it quick

Can I mix it with just saltwater to avoid lowering salinity like when I use rodi?

Thanks

What test kit are you using to determine your usage? What are your alk and calcium consumption?

Salifert for testing

Its at about 1300 currently, I am unsure on consumption but I am not dosing right now as Im trying to get my alk down

I'd like to get it to 1400 since I have a fair amount of LPS, which from the info I have seen enjoy slighly elevated magnesium

The point being that you stated your corals consume it quickly and that likely isn’t so. 1300 is a great number no matter what corals you keep.

If you do want to add magnesium, it can be formulated at quite a high concentration in RO/DI, so the amount of water being used should not be a limitation.

I would not add it to seawater. I worry that magnesium carbonate and/or hydroxide will precipitate if you add much.

Right ok, thanks, I'll just make a a higher concentrated solution
