My daughter likes Finding Nemo. I have a black ice clownfish and a black clownfish. I’m thinking about switching the black male clownfish for a regular clownfish so she can recognize it as Nemo. Is this a bad idea?

I'd avoid a split if you can, pairs are usually mated and i'm not sure it would go well if you just put another clown in there with it. If it's a larger tank then you can always add another pair since they stick to an area. Also you can use this as a learning opportunity for your daughter and tell her you don't want to split the couple and let her know it is Nemo, just a different type!

How big are Your black clowns. Is one bigger than the other? How long have they been together. A mated pair commands a better price/trade in at the lfs. They might swap your pair for one Nemo Your daughter will recognize.
They are not a mated pair until they have spawned.
To answer your question, yes you can swap, but the female may or may not just accept a new male, might need to pull male and give some time, and definitely intro in a floating container so she can get used to it, and you can observe her reaction.
Sometimes a female just won't accept certain males, and being used to that one, might make it a little trickier.
