So I am preparing to a convert from the late Digital Aquatics ReefKeeper (R.I.P) to a Neptune Apex. My question is this why are folks not using the 24v accessory port on the Apex? Is this not possible? Seems like a good way to rid yourself of some power bricks if you aren't using the 24V outlets of anything else. Just a thought. Look forward to hearing what the Apex gurus have to say about this.

Not sure on the MP40 but Neptune does offers that plug and play ability with the Wav pumps.

I would think that you could use one of these cables, add a correctly sized barrel connector, and plug it right into the MP40 Driver.

Yes, but what does the 24 v port put out in terms of amperage? You would want to make sure it matches the mp40 power supply and that the voltage is the same and in the same phase. Correct me if I am wrong.

That part of what I am wondering. Does anyone have the answer for this? Neptune's website states:

"It also includes two switchable 24V DC on/off outlets that are compatible with any 24V device under 30W and Neptune Systems 24V accessories like our Practical Multi-purpose Utility Pump (PMUP) and solenoid valve."

This would equate to 1.25 amps (assuming 0 resistance). The power supply that comes with the MP40 is rated for 1.3 amps, though I find it unlikely that it is actually drawing that much. I guess one way to figure out the draw would be to plug it into the standard 120 port and do some power monitoring. Given that I haven't set the system up yet I don't know what the draw actually is.

The 1Link port may be a better option as it looks like those 3 port can go up to 100 watts.

Just pondering...

if you are using a wxm then i wouldn't bother with the eb832 at all unless you really want to track power usage. you get full controllability in any plug when using the wxm

Did you end up trying this out? I too want to try and cut down on the power bricks needed for my system. Seems to make sense that the accessory port would meet this need.

Please do not try it. A MP40 will exceed the power capacity of a DC24 port.
