It's either a fowleri or dussumieri tang, but I can't tell which. It looks more like a fowleri though.

That’s what I thought too! I was looking for a dussi and this was sold me as it. But the more and more I look at it it looks like a Fowleri.

Thank you. I thought it was a black spot too. Anyway to tell?
the black spot (also called a barienne ) has a sleek purple/grey body with a characteristic black spot at the base of its tail. Its fins are orange and it has orange spots across its face.

So could it be a young black spot? If it doesn’t have a orange spots on its face?

I think it's a Fowlei, though until full-adult coloration it is difficult to be sure. I don't have an illustration, unfortunately.

That is a Fowleri! Anyways Fowleri > Dussu

Fowleri has that round spot just behind the eyes. Bariene tangs don't. I was accidently sold a Bariene tang for a Fowleri years ago. I sold him as I realized why I never saw that round spot.

It’s a fowleri I know I am late to this but the way to tell them apart Is the fowleri tang has a horshoe marking near there eyes also dussemeri tangs have a scalpel outlined in black and then white on the inside
