You win the gold star!I'm inclined to agree that it's either some kind of snail/sea slug egg pile, or a sponge. I've seen a few sponges that grow in spaghetti-esque ways like that, but none quite so "boxy" and compact (it kind of does look like ramen or a pile of yarn) - typically they grow more out, whereas this seems like it would have to be growing almost around itself to get that shape. Some sea slugs (sea hares and nudibranchs in particular) lay eggs that can look quite similar to this too.
Most likely not. Do you know the species by chance though, and do you have more than one? I know at least some sea hares are hermaproditic, but they’re not self-fertile and to my knowledge they can’t store sperm to fertilize eggs at a later date like some animals can. So, if you only have one the eggs are probably not fertile. Plus, even if they are fertile, the sea hares I’ve looked at have planktonic larvae - so they’ll be eaten or pulled into filters, killed by powerheads, etc. Will I soon have hundreds of sea hares? Lol
