So my candy canes are doing okay imo, they full and look like they are splitting. But I’ve noticed they are turning slightly black. Anyone experienced this? I read it could be not enough light?

Photos would be helpful, preferably under white spectrum light.

It didn’t attach when I created the post. Can’t seem to do it from my phone. I’ll have to wait til I’m back home. Lame…

They definitely look irritated. I notice mine start to look like this if the nutrients bottom out. Do they look like this all the time?

Yep they pretty much always have for a few weeks now. Nutrients are always present in my new tank. I stay steady at .1 ish phos and 10-15 nitrate.

Probably too much flow or not enough light.

Am I assuming correctly that the area you are referring to is the circle of black? If so, that’s where the feeding tentacles are. Do you feed them and have you noticed them extending (especially at night or early morning)? Since it’s been this long, it looks like either a bacterial infection or zooxanthellae expulsion. I would ask reefsquad to diagnose more accurately and recommend treatment.

I give mine about the same amount of light as a hammer with indirect random flow.
