Candy Coral.. Is it ok?

hey guys. On Friday I purchased a Candy Coral Frag. It's a small (3 heads) purple ring with green polyp center. I noticed today that the purple ring though it's fattening/swelling, which is normal. It's got a what looks like a whitish hue in the purple tissue. You can see the nice dark purple underneath this whitish tissue, so I know it's not the skeleton showing. I'm just curious if this is normal for an LPS? I know it's probably still stressed from the move, my LEDS, etc. I did spot feed it last night as well to help give it some beneficial nutrients to repair itself as well.

Here's two pics. The very right I noticed what appears to be the skeleton poking through. I'm super bummed because, I didn't see this earlier, and I hope it's not doomed. The rest looks just like the tissue is slightly "whitish" with all the color underneath.

Where the skeleton seems to have poked through the tissue from shipping. Will the tissue repair itself or will I most likely lose those heads now?

Yeah I don't see anything to bad that should fix itself with time. Keep it in a lowish light like on the sand. It should be just fine. Keep us posted. If you see any more deterioration I would advice a dip in coralRX. If you don't have any I would order it just to have on hand.

I looked this morning. Right next to the one that's poking through, there's another ridge poking through now. :(. All my params are perfect. Do I do a coralrx dip? Or leave it be for a few days to acclimate and repair itself?

Skeleton poking through flesh is not good. I would go ahead and dip it. When returning it to the tank see about putting it in an even lower light area. Maybe under a rock ledge. Good luck. Keep us updated and ask any questions

I've never dipped corals. Do I dip the while coral in coralrx quickly, or sit for a couple mins? I would imagine this is a iodine based med so would I rinse desperately in tank water, or RO? I just bought this coral friday. Am I jumping the gun not letting it acclimate and would this stress it out more?

Jumping the gun no. Tissue recession is not part of getting used to a tank.

For coralRX I have the one shot. It says online to mix one shot per one gallon of saltwater. I then put the whole coral in the one gallon of saltwater from my tank and the one coralRX shot. Let it sit for 10 minutes and the put it back into the tank. I forgot about one I was dipping for about 30 minutes. It is still doing well.

Once you mix up the coralRX take advantage of it and dip other corals that aren't looking the best.

Hopefully it will be okay until Wednesday. See if there are any local reefers that have some you can use.

I can't tell from the pic but if you see an outline of a skeleton I wouldn't worry. LPS can deflate and you can see the bone underneath. If you see actual Skeleton out side of the flesh then I would worry. Keep it in a low flow area.

When my candy canes deflate, there is always a skeleton ridge. Sounds like to me that they are just acclimating. IMO

Here's a pick of what they looked like today when I got home from work.

It definately looks better than yesterday. I still can see the tiny hole where it poked through. Do you guys think it'll heal fast? Looks really good today, Nice and fat. Maybe all that anxiety I had at work was over nothing. :D I need to keep telling myself nothing in a reet tnak is fast.

Well. I didn't help :) I pictured something worse when you said skeleton was poking through. My acanthophyllia did this a little while ago and I dipped it in coral RX and it's back to its former glory.

I am glad it's doing well! Keep us updated.

You definately helped Loki! I'm for sure picking up some CoralRX wednesday, just so I can have it on hand. If you look at those other pics just from the day before, the Candy looked way worse.

I'm sure it's still stressed and will be until it acclimates to my aquarium. I do notice that even in last nights pic that the center polyps seem to be a sucked in still. I'll give it a few more days and then spot feed them again.
