Hi I’m running a Fluval 307 and using the following; try 1 filter pad….2 ceramic rings….. 3 carbon….. Would it be better to put a bag of Puritan and carbon in the 3rd tray or get rid of the chemical and run more ceramic rings for bacteria? New to the hobby so any information would be helpful…. Cheers

is your tank filled with lots and lots of corals, notably softies? those are the ones that release a lot of toxins into the water but other corals can too. if it's a softie-only tank i'd go for the extra carbon and put some more rings in any extra space you have. if not the filter pad might already have some pieces of carbon in it so if you don't have a ton of corals it should be enough to keep chemicals down granted that you replace it frequently.

It’s a 5 week old tank at the moment so no corals as of yet but being looking to get softies later on,….. would it be ok to put more rings in same compartment as the carbon but underneath if? Cheers
