Just finally finished my stand build, cycled and put my first two clown fish in the tank. Someone local was selling a radion xr15 pro reef light with arm that I picked up for 200$. I put the light on and the wife is not big on the look of the big arm hanging off the top with the light.

The question is can I build a custom canopy that hides the top portion of the tank and mount the light directly in the canopy. Ideally it is a box that slides on but could also make it so the top is partially open to help with air flow for the light.

Hello from Canandaigua!

First, I think that looks pretty slick 🙂

You can for sure build a custom canopy and mount your light inside the canopy, you just have to consider and allow for air flow around the light fixture for sake of the fixture, and so as not to overheat your tank.

Did you build the stand? Looks good 🙂

Good luck!

Thank you! Yes. Built using cabinet grade 3/4 plywood.
