I know everyone says that aluminum is the way to go when it comes to your DYI canopy but, what is wrong with a treated wood for the frame and aluminum sheets tacked to the inner walls of it??
 
Nothing at all. Alot of people have it that way.
 
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an aluminum canopy. All the ones I’ve seen are wood. The couple I’ve built have been wood…..regular old wood….pine/fir for the frame covered with ¼ inch plywood. Just make sure you use a quality paint to paint it up. I use Kilz Complete for the primer coat, covered with an exterior paint. HERE is the last canopy I built.
