Does anybody have any pictures of their biota Regal angels? Interesting to see how they mature. My biota yellow tangs have matured into perfect yellow tangs with no issues. Also interesting to see if they are red sea regals. It seems nobody knows the answer to that including the breeders.

Here is a picture of my adult biota yellow tangs.

@Lionfish hunter How long have you had the Biota yellow tangs? I got my Biota yellow tang today. Really small but looks perfect in shape and color. @Chase_Reefs nice fish!

my baby regal is still growing but it seems to be maturing well. Ignore the ugly tank it’s a separate tank so I can take care of it better but once’s it’s big enough it will go into my 200 display
My regal just died. Eating great atleast once a day. Slowly acclimating to higher salinity it was sent to me at 1.017 and for the last 4 weeks I’ve been Raising it .001 on my water change schedule. No marks on his body or signs of external parasites. So tell tale signs of disease. And there where no other fish in his tank so he had nothing to compete with or potentially fight with. I’m beyond sad with this loss as he was my favorite fish and I was so attached to his personality and his Misbar pattern. Temperature was 78.1. No signs of ammonia burn with water changes twice a week and 15 pounds of live rock.

Sorry to hear about the loss. You mentioned eating 'great' at least once a day. Did you only feed once a day? What sort of food was it eating? How much did it eat?

So tell tale signs of disease. And there where no other fish in his tank so he had nothing to compete with or potentially fight with.

Not so sure I'd rush to that conclusion. You could have ruled this out possibly by getting a DNA test done from Aquabiomics. Would give you a report if the holding tank has any parasites or diseases like Ich or velvet, etc.

Question - did you buy direct from Biota or did you purchase it from reseller or LFS?

It ate Angel feast and Mysis shrimp for frozen and the Small Tdo pellets. I feed it atleast twice a day every day sometimes three if I was home for lunch. It showed no signs of sickness and no other fish were in the tank. This fish was brought the fish to macna before selling it to my lfs who sold it to me. I unfortunately have no idea what went wrong. This was my favorite fish and most prized fish.

I setup its tank just for this regal it was the only tank inhabitant and the only fish that had been ever in it so I don’t think I caused an illness but the tank has 15 pounds of live rock that I’ve been curing after buying about 6 months ago.

Thank you for the update. For what it is worth I wasn't placing any blame - was only trying to understand a little bit more about it, source, and eating habits.

One unknown is the LFS and their respected systems, holding tanks, and plumbing (all tanks same water, etc). That could be a possibility. Eating could be another. Captive bred / raised are eating prepared foods - I think Biotas feed DKI and TDO pellet, mastic, and some frozen for which I forgot, sorry.

Those are the only two things that I can think of. That is if I understood the purchase path.

Edit: and you are 100% correct in that they are an amazing fish. Again sorry about your loss.
