I read calcium formate depletes oxygen as it's used in the reaction that leads to alk. With fairly high dosing in a SPS tank would this be a significant amount of oxygen, enough that we might expect it to have other effects, what would that lead to? Or is it not a concern?

If formate is consumed as quickly as acetate and ethanol, the added formate will be consumed within 24 hours. Using Randy’s calculation of the total amount of oxygen consumed per dose, you can get a rough sense of the average oxygen depletion rate per hour, though it could be a bit higher and it could be localized, say, greater oxygen depletion in the substrate than in the water.
