I'll jump in here. I don't use Carbon. But when I did, it was just the regular old Activated Carbon, nothing fancy.

I switched to Seachem Carbon Matrix. It's easier to use due to its shape/size. Doesn't tend to clump together.

I don't use carbon on a regular basis either, but when I did I would just use those Aquaclear carbon inserts they sell for the HOB filters. No problem.

I have heard of people not using carbon.. What filtration are you using?

Live rock, regular water changes & efficient skimming seems to keep my tank afloat. Along with good husbandry of course.. (not overstocking, not overfeeding etc)

I use lignite. Rox is too aggressive.
