Greetings, we are a Filipino-Belgian non-stock non-profit corporation (NGO) and our mission is to develop affordable culture methods for marine invertebrates as an alternative livelihood for the coastal populations of Cebu and the Philippines. We focus on invertebrates that do not need to be fed, for environmental and economical reasons. We are working on giant clams (Tridacna sp) and sea cucumber (Holothuria scabra).
The vision is to propose an alternative livelihood opportunity to the fishermen and have them stop their non-sustainable practices like dynamite-and cyanide-fishing and seaweed gathering.
Please visit our Facebook page Cebu Mariculture or our website Cebu Mariculture Demonstration Center for more information.
We are located in the top North part of the island of Cebu, in an area where there is little industry except traditional fisheries - with a very low yield.
Please visit our site and stay in our beautiful B&B rooms, so you can support our efforts.
Cheers, Josee and Jean
