When do corals naturally feed? I assume at night, but the photosynthetic corals feed from the light during the day.
I understand that corals color up under lower nutrient levels
I want to run Chaeto to help with Ph at night, but if it is absorbing nutrients at night when corals are feeding, then am I costing my self more by feeding my Chaeto?
I skim with outside air to increase oxygen levels increase PH, but also let the skim cup drain back into the water column. I pulls the really nasty chunky stuff out, but lets smaller particles back in.
I currently feed at lights on (~9:30AM) and lights off (~10PM) Chaeto lighting comes on at ~10:30PM and off at ~9PM.
I am running NO3 ~1-2ppm and PO4 ~0.03-0.06.
Thinking through what my optimal lighting cycle in on the Chaeto in my sump to get optimal nutrition without fouling up the tank.
Would anyone think altering algae lights to 11:30AM-8PM, 4AM-8AM might help?
