Chalice frags GHA issue

Hey all! Trying to figure this one out- just got some chalices from my LFS and they are riddled with GHA on the plugs. I was thinking of a H2O2 dip but then read that chalices hate h2o2 and will likely die if I dip them in that. So 2 questions: #1 how easily to chalices that haven’t encrusted over the edges come off of a frag plug? And #2, if not easily, are there any good ways since H2O2 probably isn’t it to get the algae off of the plugs? I do have 2 tangs (yellow and bristletooth), a starry blenny, and plenty of CUC but I’d rather not purposely introduce more if I can help it! Thank you!

I would simply remove the chalices from the plugs. But if not, just get sharp knife scrapper and scrap alway anything and everything!

I haven’t tried yet and these are my first chalices… are they just glued on the plugs generally like any other frag? So should pry off really easily?

They do encrust but your chalices don’t seems to have encrusted into the plugs. So it should snap off. And chalices are not too delicate to handle so you got it. Don’t put that plug in your tank. Put the chalices on the sandbed or on larger plug for it to grow onto.

You will likely break them attempting to remove the plug. Carefully wet the plugs with peroxide using a q-tip or small paint brush avoiding the coral.

I was able to remove them cleanly and mount them directly on the rockwork where I wanted them. Also was able to dip them after I removed them so got some pests off, then got most of the GHA off manually. I trust my tangs to do the rest
