Chalk Bass Question

So recently added a Chalk Bass to my DT and after hiding for a bit in the rocks it's out and not moving from a corner at the top of the tank... I'm not familiar at all with them and was wondering should I be concerned? Thanks for the help

Most likely just acclimating to the tank, IME these guys do best in groups of 3 or more

Ideally they should be added at the same time but you'll probably be okay. How big is your tank and do you have a lot of LR? They like caves and a lot of structure to hide in....

They're awesome, once acclimated they're out in the open most of the time. They remind me of Firefish as they will typically hover in one place for a long period of time unlike Black Cap Basslets who are swimmers.

I have a 65g with about 75lbs of LR and lots of caves

The Hawkfish was bothering him earlier

The hawkfish picking on him is not surprising. The angel may also chase a little too. In most cases it settles down after a few days.

The Angel is too busy bothering the Clowns and their anemone to notice lol but the Hawkfish is distracted again with the Watchman and Pistol tunnels

So I just noticed that my yellow watchman has come out of its tunnels with the pistol shrimp and joined the chalk bass at the top corner. ...really confused by this

Sounds like you have an aggressor in there.

Just a little update...my Chalk Bass is doing well, and gets along with his tankmates and the Hawkfish behaves most of the time...even has his own little territory...thanks everyone for your help...

Mine was more on the timid size. He was also the worst jumper out of any fish I've ever owned. I couldn't even tell you how many times I'd spook him while working in the tank and have him winding up on the floor.
