Cheato DOA?

I ordered some cheato earlier this week. It was shipped Monday and should be delivered tomorrow. Four days in transit, should I expect dead cheato?

It's unseasonable mild here for this time of year, so I'm not too concerned about the weather . It's only a small amount, about a cup full and 4 days in total darkness is what I'm worried about. This is my second attempt at growing it and don't want to start off with dying cheato.

I suspect the cheato will be alive. The micro fauna that came along for the ride.........ehhhhh.......maybe not. Without knowing anything about your tank I'll say this. I've had a refugium for years with mixed results on cheato. I recently started dosing Red Sea colors and Cheato exploded with growth and my phosphate reads 0. I suspect it may be the Iodine in the supplements aiding the algae. Something to consider.

I think you should be OK though.

Good question! I love giving mine away......makes me sad that my LFS sells it! Just give it to people, otherwise it's thrown in the trash.

Thanks, I did receive a PM from someone local that would sell me some if I needed it. Bored at work last week and this was an impulse buy, next time I'll just ask around.
