Any experiences out there with them? Do they eat Macro like Caulerpa of sorts? Or just microalgae? Temperament? Let me know what the deal is with these fish I might be looking into getting one.

we have a huge one in the lagoon. i cant speak on those algaes since i dont have them in the tank but it does eat just about everything i put in the tank and will destroy a entire sheet of nori in a few bites. he sucked in a full 6inch long 2inch wide peice one time lol.

super friendly. when we walk up to the tank he is right up there with all the other sticking thier heads fully out of the water. him and the bird wrasse will pull food from our hands if we hold it just over the water line. they pop there heads right out of the water and take it lol

great fish IMO

EliteReefs - do you keep your Chevron with other tangs? What they are if you do?

yes i do. in the lagoon we only have four fish. tank is 775 + the approx 100 gallon sump

chevron tank about 7 inches
purple tank about 7 inches
sailfin tank (redsea) almost 9 inches
and a huge 10 inches bird wrasse. super birhgt neon blue/green

thats all the fish we have and they wre all put in about a month apart from eachother. we always wanted a long raceway to watch tangs zip along in. once it was built i could not wait to get some tangs in there

I have one in a 75. He is with a re sea sailfin. They are both equally dominant in the tank. as far as algae, he's a good rock and glass cleaner, but doesn't touch caulerpa or hair algae really, that's why the sailfin is in there.

IME they, like other tangs of that genus, don't physically have the mouth parts to be able to bite off pieces of caulerpa. But they are great at rasping the rocks and sand, keeping it from growing there in the first place :)
