So im in the market for a chiller. Im looking for something that runs quiet, that is the most important feature on my list. I have a 40 gallon tank now and plan on upgrading in the future so i will definitely buy something a little oversized for my tank.
Ive read good things about Teco and ive also heard good things about JBJ but also a lot of bad thing about the jbj brand just trying to get the best bang for buck! thanks for everyones help

You may have tried using fans blowing across the surface of the display and/or sump, but if not, they can be very effective. You may get lucky and be able to avoid a chiller.

Just wanted to throw that out first.

Yes I'm doing that now but my temp is still at 82 and I'm starting to see some of my corals go pale and I'm filling my 6 gallon reservoir every other day. I'm going on vacation in 3 weeks and I can't have that

Definitely can't have that. Sorry I can't recommend a brand but it does sound like you need one. Hopefully someone will chime in with a recommendation.

Would advise Teco for noise and electrical consumption.

JBJ is an excellent chiller.
I had a 1/10 hp when I had a 45 gallon tank.
I currently have a 1/4 hp on my 100 gallon tank. No problems on either.

I've had 2 Teco chillers and they both performed excellent. Very low power usage compared to generic brands that I've also tried out.
