Chipped tank

Hello everyone, I chipped my tank when moving it. I want to get everyone opinion to see if this tank is still usable. The silicon is not damaged in any way. Hopefully the pictures provided a clear look at what is going on.

If it is over 50% of the width of the silicone, then I would not use it. Especially if it is the bottom seal because that has the most pressure on it.

Not sure how big the tank is, but looking at the photos, I personally would not use this tank. Too much of a liability if too big volume of water to get on the floor. If it is smaller tank, then it'll be less risk and easy to swap/clean if it leaks.

The chip does not go back into the silicon it’s more toward the front of the glass. The tank is a Aquatop 40 gallon all in one.

I’m hoping I can use it i already ruined one tank by being stupid.

The chip does not go back into the silicon it’s more toward the front of the glass.

This is best-case scenario for a spall chip, sometimes called a oyster shell or clam shell chip!

Assuming there aren’t any hidden actual cracks propagating from these chips that you can spot when using a flashlight from numerous angles, this tank should still be safe to use!

You should be in business then!

You can wipe a small amount of silicone sealant over that area just to hold the chips in, and mitigate any razor sharp edges… or just be aware it’s there!
