It’s a bummer for sure. I was thinking the same thing the chip does not look like it would cause any issues.I think that's a bummer, but likely just fine to use![]()
If it is over 50% of the width of the silicone, then I would not use it. Especially if it is the bottom seal because that has the most pressure on it.
I don't think so at all, but I have a high bar for sketchy tanksIt’s a bummer for sure. I was thinking the same thing the chip does not look like it would cause any issues.

This is best-case scenario for a spall chip, sometimes called a oyster shell or clam shell chip! The chip does not go back into the silicon it’s more toward the front of the glass.
Went over the chip with my flashlight and did not see any cracks coming from the chipThis is best-case scenario for a spall chip, sometimes called a oyster shell or clam shell chip! The chip does not go back into the silicon it’s more toward the front of the glass.
Assuming there aren’t any hidden actual cracks propagating from these chips that you can spot when using a flashlight from numerous angles, this tank should still be safe to use!
You should be in business then!Went over the chip with my flashlight and did not see any cracks coming from the chip
Thank you for your input, this makes me feel so much better! You should be in business then!Went over the chip with my flashlight and did not see any cracks coming from the chip
You can wipe a small amount of silicone sealant over that area just to hold the chips in, and mitigate any razor sharp edges… or just be aware it’s there!
