Yellow tang aggression driving me crazy

All the tricks suggested should be tried of course. The one I’ve had most success with is removing the yellow tank and reintroducing 3-4 weeks, if not longer, as your last fish. This has a high probability of success. Yes you need to catch him. Multiple nets or as suggested lowering water level, egg crate partitions etc would work. Good luck!

got it thanks guys. i am planning to add a bunch of rocks, more important to make it good for the fish and less important to make it good for the eye

The mirror trick has worked for my yellow tang when introducing 2 smaller bristletooth tangs at 2 separate times. I left the mirror in place until the aggression wore off which coule take a couple of days.

More rock will provide a wider variety of elevations and surfaces to mount corals. Therefore, in the long run adding more rocks can improve the aesthetics of the tank!

hopefully final update

Added a ton of rock, doesnt looks great but now i can see there are way more hiding places for fish (not just passthroughs but place they can actually hide) and as pointed out, im excited for more coral real estate as well

thanks for the advice i am happy with the change. Also the mirror trick seems to have worked. I added the male anthias in the middle of the night and today went great, everyone swimming around together, no aggression. everyone is eating really well. will leave the mirror tomorrow for good measure and take it down Monday

cheers

From my perspective, you dont have enough rock with hiding places.

However, I would rehome fish in a heartbeat. Replace with a smaller Tang and introduced all new fish at the same time.

For me, the easiest way to catch fish in a tank with rocks is to drain water down to a few inches remove fish and pump water back into display.
brilliant idea, I never thought of that!!!
