Chiton out of water

I found a large (1 ½") chiton on lid of return. No idea how long it was there. Thankfully seems to have survived.

Some chitons actually live on rocks at the tide line. So, they spend half of their life (in 4 to 6 hour increments) out of the water. They can attach to surfaces so well that they can keep from drying out.
