The reason why Ctenochaetus look similar to Acanthurus is because they are synonyms, 'Ctenochaetus' is nested right in the middle of Acanthurus on a phylogenetic treeI never managed to keep one alive for a longer period of time. During the time it was "happy" I haven't noticed it being too efficient in that. Siganus vulpinus or any zebrassoma or ctenochaetus are my favorite algae eaters. For whatever it's worth, ctenochaetus species looks a bit towards acanthurus (e.g striatus or binotatus) and are way easier to maintain.
