Cladophoropsis algae issues

No luck Jimbo, what worked for me was putting the rocks in a bucket with fresh saltwater and changing it every week. I think bound phosphates in the dry rock used for that tank were to blame. With the ULNS condition I was running on that tank they took some time to show up. Throughout the time battling the algae (and before) phosphates and nitrates were zeroish so I think the algae was using the phosphates as they were released from the rock. I think if the nitrates were higher in the tank before the algae was a problem bacteria could have more efficiently scavenged the released phosphates from the rock preventing the algae from getting a foothold.

Bumping really old thread. First tank, inherited on home purchase. Nothing new added but this is taking over. Only a snowflake eel, bunch of snails, 3 harlequin shrimp, and some crabs and coral in the tank now. I added the cleaners and shrimp to deal with a major starfish issue. This algae was starting to grow before I added anything.

Can't rip this out, it breaks and is very well rooted. It's on a back rock panel that covers the entire tank and also has mushrooms on it. Taking it out to spot treat seems hard.

If I shoot some blasts of boiling water directly on the areas (while under water), maybe that'd treat it? Might increase tank temp slightly but I cant counter with ice cubes in the sump perhaps.

Hello are there any news on how to fight this algea?
I noticed that it grows a lot with low no3 and po4, if I try to dose n and p it grows even faster,maybe I have to try to dose only no3

prefers to grow on areas with sediment accumulation
my tang don't eat it ,same the snail,sometimes my urchin eat very small portions

Have you guys tried Mexican turbo snails yet? Larger ones? Rabbit fish I always keep in my tanks because they really eat almost any algae. Most of the time algae can be taken care of naturally so best to try those methods before treating and pulling rocks.

Read through this thread — is battling this algae currently and have not been able to get rid of it, only able to keep it at bay by attacking it with a toothbrush each weekly water change as that seems the only way to remove it.

I have this algae as well, nothing I have (tuxedo urchins, emerald and hermit crabs, snails, bristletooth tang) eats it. It grows fairly slowly but is tough to remove manually.

Interesting what other said about low nutrients. I struggle to keep NO3 off zero even when dosing neonitro and have had issues with corals dying which may be due to low nutrients. The cladophoropsis continues to grow though.

Id be very interested in solutions for this.

I actually noticed today one of my Mexican turbos had a patch of Cladophoropsis for dinner, so they might be a viable option.
