I have a couple of questions before I decide on if I can have a clam or not.
A little tank info first. It's a 40B with T5's. While the tank & sand are only a couple months old, the rock & livestock are 4 years old(switched tanks from a sumpless 45 to the 40B & added a 20 gal sump) Now on to the my questions. 1: Is T5 lighting in a 40B enough? (2: With the new tank & sand would it be considered "seasoned" enough to support a clam? all other corals are doing fine(a few sps,softies,2 nems) I'm dosing BRS 2 part & have gotten ca/alk/mg levels stable.I'm dosing through my ATO water.

I kept a clam under PC lighting for a few years and it did fine, so I am sure your lighting should be fine, as for everything else I am not sure.

Your lighting should be fine as long as you have individual reflectors on your bulbs. I would say if your SPS are doing fine you should be fine with adding a clam.

You could keep the following clams under certain conditions;

Hippopus - PC,T5 or better
Squamosa - PC,T5 or better
Derasa - PC, T5 or better
Crocea - PC or better
Maxima - T5HO, MH LED or Better
Gigantea - T5 or better

This is just through my experience, sure you can keep them all under a PC, but you'd need a lot of output, and the main question is will you be able to maintain their color?

Hope this helps, good luck!

lighting is key for clams and everything else they like ,like nitrates, calium and more. need to check every thing before you get one.
