I was wondering if someone here has experience with clams surviving, or not surviving a dino outbreak? I dont know if dinos affect clams or not. Can clams help filter out the dinos or whatever is causing them?

I don't think clams help with dinos.

I had, and still have, a derasa that survived my dinos.

Thanks for your response.
Hoping to hear from more people too.

In the wild clams and other Bivalve filter feeders commonly ingest dinos among other species of microalgae. Now, are these dinos in HAB concentrations, I'm not sure. Is the concentration super high in your reef? Not sure. The organisms are not generally killed by the dino toxins to my knowledge, but the toxin does accumulate in its tissues. Hence the general rule, only eat
"Shellfish" during months the have an R in them so as to avoid potential Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning.

Good point MrGisonni. I knew about biotoxins but didnt realize one of the sources was dinos.
