Hello Reefers,

I was planning to upgrade my tank and last week I saw a good offer on basic Apex system (photo attached), but when I checked, it seems to be an old edition of Apex system, Do you guys recommend getting it even if it's the old version, or get the new one?

Thank you!

The Apex Classic is still used by thousands of people. The only drawbacks are that it is not compatible with the Trident for automated water testing, or the EB832 which has more advanced power monitoring capabilities than the older Energy Bars. You also won't have any warranty support when buying used equipment. Also confirm the seller kept the pH probe wet or else it will need to be replaced.

But for a great automation controller and low cost, you can't go wrong.

Great, I think it maybe a first step for automating my tank, let’s see after that. Thanks, much appreciated!
