I have some aragonite substrate that has been used previously in a QT. Some has been stored semi wet in a bucket and some in a the QT with ro water for a few months. Can I use hydrogen peroxide to clean the substrate in the bucket after it has been rinsed and agitated to clean anything on it off or should I use bleach? The hydrogen peroxide sounds a little safer.....?

Thanks

Troy

I would just use a hose and rinse it clean. Its all I have ever done in the past and never had any issues

My suggestion would be to use bleach just as you would to cure live rock back to dry rock and to sterilize your QT tanks in between QT sessions. The big thing to remember is to rinse well and use some Erase CL and then be sure to let the sand dry completely in the sun. Drying the sand completely detoxifies the chlorine if any left on the sand.
