I have seen thru the years several places selling cleaner clams to be kept in fuges that supposedly will help lower your nitrates and such. Has anybody ever used them and found that they help? I imagine you would need ALOT of cleaner clams in a large system to see any kind of effect.

They'll quickly starve and die, unless you can measure your sand bed in Square Yards/cleaner clam. Same thing with Sandsifting Starfish. They'll also quickly starve and die, while turning your sand bed into a sterile environment, devouring all the beneficial critters, before starving.
