Is it trying to molt lol. The fire shrimp is REALLY curious about it….but the cleaner flicks away every time he comes close. Cleaners trying to hide also…..unsuccessfully because he can’t swim real well. It’s like his legs are not working.

How long have you had him? Is he new to the tank ?
Had him for almost two months, started acting like this yesterday. Ammonia, nitrites, ph, salinity, nitrates all great. My other cleaner is acting fine

I can’t see the vid.

When you describe legs not working that reminds me of when they are just about to release the spawn from their abdomin.

Just staying near sand not moving, feels like he’s stiff and dragging his claws

Could be molting, that’s quite regular. They do for sure hide for a few days or so until the new shell hardens.

You post “cleaners” so Iam guessing there are two.
Any two will breed. They are both male and female.

The other possibility is if one is carry a full set of eggs under the abdomen back to the tail. They have some trouble swimming a few days before release as the eggs impede the legs.

The fire may be interested in a free lunch.

Status update: shrimp still alive, but now laying on sand :( still squirts away from the fire shrimp but I can see one of his antenna is missing too. He may be injured for some reason :(
