I am making some saltwater to mix do you guys dump the new saltwater on top of the small residue of the old saltwater or you guys clean it out? Its a pain to remove that small saltwater residue, because its a whole mixing station i have to remove the 90s etc.. or its not safe?

I clean mine after every mixing, I'm just weird like that. I don't have any 90s or stuff like that.
I have heard or read somewhere that the brown sludge residue is fine and not toxic.

When I used 3 Brutes, I would clean them about every 3-4 months. I also used Reef Crystals then. When I pumped it out of the brutes and into my tank for a WC, I ran it through a sediment filter. I’ve since revamped my mixing station. I have a 300g mixing jug that after I mix it I then run it through a sediment filter (25m). Then it is pumped into a second 300g “display ready” holding tank through a 5 micron filter. I now do AWC. I have no plans to clean my mixing chamber, nor have I even looked in there. I did recently change out all the sediment filters and frankly, I didn’t need to. I’ve switched to Fritz blue box, for price. If Than can operate on RC I can use the most economical salt I can find. I did recently have to clean my display ready container. Due to my garage door being opened so often, I’m getting algae growth after about 6 months. Super simple and easy to clean. I’m about 3k g through this system so far. Now I’m curious what the other bin looks like. It’s filled with RODI waiting to have salt dumped into. It will be a few weeks before I need to transfer the water from one bin to the other. But, I got the sediment filter idea from a BRS video.

I clean mine maybe once a year? I just pour in fresh RODI, it kind of breaks up the sediment. Then add my salt. My outlet for the salt water is above the bottom so I never get any sediment into my water change jugs.

So u think im good just to dump fresh rodi on top, and mix my sw?

You don’t have to clean it. It will not cause any harm. It’s just precipitation of calcium carbonate.

I clean mine every time (but it is easy) I use Reef Crystals so if I didn’t everything would choke up pretty quickly :p. No harm if you don’t, it’s just saltwater won’t do any harm.

Just dump fresh RO on top and mix new into it. I wouldn't clean until it starts significant build up.
You could also test a fresh back to see how it impacts things.

Yep. That's how I've been doing it for years. I use regular IO and it mixes very dirty. I'll usually clean my brutes once or twice in the summer when I'm able to take it outside to do it.
