Cleaning old bio balls

So I pulled some old bio balls out of my shed to use to difuse bubbles in my 'fuge. The problem is, I had gas stored in the shed as well and I think I kinda smell fuel on the bio balls. I have them soaking in water/vinegar. Do you think this will be enough to get them clean/safe?
I know; They're cheap. Just go get some more, right?
Any thoughts.

yeah that's one of those things, it would be a shame if they did end up leaching gas into the tank and taking out fish or coral. I would rather be safe then sorry. Also the smaller the fish tank the more impact things like that or detergents have on the animals in the tank but either way I would be extra careful. If you don't wanna buy new ones, after that soak I would scrub them down with a clean brush and RO water then soak them again. Personally I would get new ones but I do have a lot invested in my tank and try not to risk anything.

They are cheap enough that I would not chance it either way. I would just go by new ones!

Does this idea work? I have 12" high sump baffles and when my water get about halfway low I start to get micro bubbles

I bought a used 180 gallon tank setup and reused the bio balls...would something leaching out of them show in the regular water tests? I haven't added any fish yet
