Cleaning out HDPE water jug?

So I bought two of these new HDPE water 5 gallon containers last week and I wanted to use them, but they have kind of a funny chemical plastic smell even though they are supposed to be used for drinking water.

Other than rising them out should I do something else?

Filling them with rodi hopefully it will help pull the smell out of them. Maybe I'm just being too paranoid lol.
