So I never thought about this. Read somebody use to wash there hands with soap before putting them in tank and had problems. So how do u clean ur hands before putting in tank.

A small dab of Kitchen soap and rinse very well.

I use dawn dish soap always figured that was what they used to clean penguins from oil spills but now I'm worried about killing something. Thoughts

I just use hot water.... gloves if I think I may have touched something questionable

Everything I have always been told is to rinse your hands and any areas of your arms that will touch the water really well with hot water. Rinse and re-rinse and repeat. From there I put on disposable gloves. I always use gloves no matter what. From my experience I could touch any coral with my bare hands and no problems but after years of doing so it is starting to affect me( I usually feel weird, mild sick symptoms for a couple of hours after touching coral) I was told by many people that after a while your body's immunity to the stuff that coral has in it breaks down and can affect you more and more. This is just my personal opinion so I constantly use gloves. Its a win-win because it keeps me safe and my inhabitants as well.

well, it's not like I put my hands in the tank after handling bleach or chemicals. I just think as in most hobbies, some go a little overboard. not saying it's wrong. if I did it for months, maybe luck could be a part of it, but 25 years?

15 years messing around with tanks. I typically don't go out of my way to wash unless they are noticeably dirty or I have been working with oils or chemicals. Then its dish washing soap and warm water. I have been thinking about gloves for fragging, but haven't gotten around to getting some from a store.

I never use to wash when I was heavy into it and never had any problems. That being said now I am always using anti-bacterial soap every time I am setting up my newest tank. I personally would be afraid to use dish soap but have no information to back up that fear. I think gloves are a great idea, I think I may get a pair for the future.
