So I’ve been a member here for a long time and I just got around to making a thread about my tank. I have been in the Hobby for 15+ years. My current tank celebrated its three-year anniversary last month. It is a 250 gallon euro braced StarFire external overflow 6 foot long 250 gallon aquarium.
In order to have a place for the tank I converted my small single car garage into a wreck room. The wife gave me 10 feet of the back of the room as a fish room. So here is a couple pictures of me ripping out the floor of the garage and converting it to a living space. We installed in floor heating and reframed the garage door in order to have a place for the tank I converted my small single car garage into a wreck room. The wife gave me 10 feet of the back of the room as a fish room. So here is a couple pictures of me ripping out the floor of the garage and converting it to a living space. We installed in floor heating and re-framed the garage door in. In the picture you’ll see my 125 6 footer that was only in that space for about a year

Here is the foam wall that I used in my 6 foot previous tank. I built this and silicone it to the back wall of the tank. I liked it so much I cut it out and we used it as the back for the 250

So here’s a big change that helped the tank a lot. I went with a 40 gallon long refugium. And a horizontal algae turf scrubber. The ats flows down into the fuge and it overflows into the sump. The ats is lit by a red and blue strip light. And the fuge is lit by two red UFO style. With the system I no longer need to run GFO and my nitrates are very well-kept and check

Here is the fish room in its current state. I need to clean the room up; it’s a constant job keeping it clean. The frag tank is doing good. Most of my frags have grown to full colony’s I gotta get some of them up for sale now that COVID is a bit safer.

So here is another piece of the tank that is worked out amazing. I have always used super high-end skimmers. They’ve always been something I constantly was trying to upgrade. None of them work that great. I’ve had bubble king. Vertex. Deltec ect. My strive for the best skimmer was an ending LOL then a couple years ago I bought a cheap octopus in between purchasing my next bubble king. It was the best skimmer I’ve ever used! I was so impressed with this thing that I kept it. I’ve had it now for probably four years and it’s honestly unbelievable! Totally changed my mind on equipment. This thing just works. It’s a total beast it pulls so much junk it’s amazing

Here are a few pictures of the display. It’s coming along quite well right now I am battling with a infestation of zoa and pally. I am trying to find some kind of fish or invert that will eat them but so far no luck
