I'm setting up a frag tank and am going to use a couple of closed loops for flow. I'm going to be using submersible pump and run all the plumbing within the tank. Should I place the pumps closer to the outlet side of the loop or closer to the inlet side? My thinking is that having it closer to the inlet side would be more efficient. It will have a flow length of about 4 feet.

You always want to minimize input/suction side resistance.
