Cloudy water help

I just filled in my aquarium with saltwater and the water got cloudy and I did wait about a day for the water to "settle", but nothing has changed

I did rinse the sand until it is completely clear, so Im not sure if this is because of sand or an algae bloom

I havent turned on my protein skimmer or wave maker, should I turn on both of them?

you can try chem method such as seachem clarity. are you using ro water?

Yes, at least the wave maker to keep the particulate suspended and this will allow for your filtration to capture it

skimmer probably unnecessary at this point

Yes I did use rodi water as a base for my saltwater

No, Im only running a protein skimmer which I havent turned on yet.

yea wave maker should be turned on especially if you have live rock. when i setup my new tank a while ago, it only took 2 days max to be very clear without any chemicals. left the skimmer off but everything else is on.

Did you also run a filtration unit or just the wave makers?

i run no filter socks. honestly it should just settle down unless there is a water issue. when i first started the hobby years ago i used a chemcial to treat it. i remember it took a hour before it really cleared up but that was for fresh water. if its taking a few days it could mean your tank is cycling.
