Cloudy water!!!!!!

Hey guys fewdays back I added bioball reactor in my filteration unit. Since from that day my aquarium water is very cloudy. And its already many days its not getting better at all help me guys. Tell what can I do to bring back it on normal stage.

Its sometimes common for cloudy water after adding a bio reactor. Is your picture of the reactor with the pump running? The bio pellets should be tumbling in the reactor. At any rate you should do a water change.

Yes its running with water pump but I have notice that balls are not moving at all.. I guess pump is not that powerful enough

Yeah they need to be tumnling for it to be effective.

I just checked nitrate level its above 50 :s so I just turn and separated my bioball reactor and decided to add some vodka in the sump ... Am I doing right?

I dont know about the vodka. A water change is what you need right now for sure. Also are you running a protien skimmer. I hope so. You need to be if you are running a bio reactor. The reactor should be dumping water in to the sump around the intake of the protien skimmer and never to the display tank.

I just experienced the same thing recently. It was a bacteria bloom and the way I solved it, I turned the output of my reactor down (recirculating type) and skimmed wetter than normal. I also added some Micro Bacteria 7 which helped getting it crystal clear again. The water change did nothing at all for it, as it's the hetotrphic (think I spelled it right) bacteria multiplying. It multiplies at an extremely fast rate.

But if you can find a way to slow the output to the tank, you will find it will slow it down as far as kicking the cloud up. Skimming pulls out the excess and the bacteria suppliment takes care of the cloud overnight.

That's what worked for me. And as a side note, mine only happened at the very end of them breaking in..
