I have had multiple clownfish over my years of reefkeeping. All but one have done this weird thing where they stay at the top of the water and barely move, he is breathing and swiming fine and acting normal. All my clowns have done this and never seemed injured or sick. Anybody know what this is
?

Are there any caves or hiding spots in the tank? From the pic it seems the fish doesn't have anywhere to go.

That being said mine also surfed the surface every night while sleeping. It went away after a few years when the nem finally hosted them.

Yeah theres multiple caves and he doesn’t always stay up there i just think its weird ive had so many clowns do this.

They're weird, territorial, mean little things. Never short on personality or quirks. The ones I have now will be the last that I keep.

Most likely the same here man, i love fish but i think i might go inverts and small gobies alone from now on, i would like to not worry so much about how healthy my tank is etc. inverts like conchs are easier to keep alive longer.
