I know...clowns will be clowns...but I get a little worried when he lays on the sand or a hermit and does this.....

So we started with a pair of broodmates. One of them didn't make it and "Waldo" was solo for about a month. We picked up another ocellaris "Dotty" about two days ago. Waldo is bigger..and there was a little aggression for the first day but now they seem to be ok. They swim near each other without the aggressive charges that we had for the first day. They eat well and nearby each other without any issues.

Waldo has started this in the last 24 hours. He does this every once in a while...and then swims off like nothing ever happened. Doesn't look like he's breathing hard....and he's eating just fine.

My vote is derp! Wish my Ocellaris would do this lol...

That's pretty funny! It looks like he is trying to make a friend. We named our Lloyd and does weird stuff all the time. Forgets where the jets blow and gets knocked around, swims like a drunkard, and seems to be trying to make a home out of my acan. I think all of the captive breeding is causing them to be highly inbred like pure bred dogs and It is messing with their little brains.

Looks like he's trying to host the hermit. I wouldn't put it past a clown. They don't call them clowns for nothing. They're all a little dain brammaged.

Bigger one likely a female. Aggression is common amongst clowns and Female clownfish are much more dominant than their male counterparts. They greedily try to eat most of the food that gets into the tank (which is one reason the males don't grow as large). They will often aggressively protect their home whether that be an anenome, a nesting site, a clay pot or the entire fish tank. If it attacks your hand when you're trying to clean the glass or it won't let any other fish near its spot, you most likely have a female clownfish.
Often, the female will barely let the male eat and sometimes will almost control where in the tank the male is allowed to go. This will go on until the male submits.

Yeah...that is why I was reluctant to get another clown after one of the initial pair die. I assumed any other clown would not be as lucky. However...I was outvoted when at the LFS that we got the first pair from. There was some aggression the first 24 hour then it seemed to be much less. Today they are hanging out together most of the time...but not glued to each other like the initial pair were.

Then this derpiness....hopefully it won't injure itself with this behavior.
