I'm looking at breeding clowns so am looking to build a new breading tank. One main tank divided into several individual tanks with their own overflow & return all running off a central sump.

What's a recommended size for each compartment?

I'm looking at around

Width: 25cm / 10inches
Height: 30cm / 11 inches
Depth: 30cm / 11 inches

How's this size? too big/small need more width and less heigh etc?

At least 12” x 12”. You’re pretty close in dimensions

I would go with at least 12" x 12" as vetteguy mentioned. The bigger the better. It's also best to have opaque panels (black is probably best) so that the pairs can't see each other.
