Hey all, I noticed today that one of my wife’s clown fish was laying on its side in her 20 and was being bullied a bit by her other clown. I fed the tank and it did perk up and swim a little but the other clown kept flashing it. I was able to scoop it out and put it in my 300, (same water on same filtration system) and it’s now laying on its side trying to swim every once in a while but breathing heavy.

Should I move it into a QT tank and monitor it or does everyone think it’s moribund. When other fish in the 300 come by it it gets up and swims but then lays back down.

Update: it swam away when I tried to net it out of the 300 to put into qt so not completely moribund. I wasn’t able to net and now it’s in a cave. Still odd that it’s breathing heavy and goes back to laying on the sand. Any ideas?

Clowns can be very aggressive and will kill other clowns. At this point if you are sure there is no disease associated with this then just to wait to see if it will survive the attack it received. Best would be to get into QT with no other fish to stress, but if you can't catch it just wait and see.

This does happen on occasion that one clown does not take to the other and becomes very aggressive to the point of killing it.

I was able to get it out and into QT with some Paraguard and stressguard. Seems to be doing better than last night. Not swimming to much still but breathing as back to normal. Will probably keep it in QT to monitor for a while u til acting completely normal and then it’s new home will probably be the 300 that didn’t have clowns planned but one can’t hurt.
