My new clown goby has been hiding for the past couple of days. At first he was less shy. He came out today and I noticed his belly was sunken in. He hasn't been eating much. I have seen him eat some and I just thought since he was so small maybe he didn't need as much food. I feed flakes in the morning and frozen brine at night. I also add DT's live phytoplankton. His tankmates are an oscillaris clown and a bangaii cardinal. I've read that I should try live food. Is it too late? What can I do to keep him from starving? What kind of live food is best? Any other suggestions?

Well heres what Ive found about the small fish. My little chromis wont eat shrimp, and survives off of cyclopeeze. I would recommend trying that, I know everything likes it. Are there any fish in your tank keeping the clown goby in the rocks?

Is your tank full of copepods ? mine only ate off the live rock like a mandarin. you don't see them eating though.paintballers right for you to try cyclopeeze. only a little though so you can ween him onto the live rock. To be honest, i don't feed any of my fish more than twice a week, they all get fat on the sea bugs.

i had a small yellow clown goby and had the same problems. i put him in the tank and he pretty much hid or didnt stay too much in the open and i couldnt get to eat. i tried all types of food to get him to eat and towards the end it looks like he would get a few pieces but unfort. it was too late and his stomach was too sunken in and he passed away. i was so sad, i thought he was just so cute. hopefully someone can help you come up with something soon so he will be okay.......

You could also soak the food in a garlic extract to try and spurn the fish to eat.

Best of luck!

No, the other fish don't really seem to pay any attention to him. I have a small tank (29gal), so I probably don't have alot of copopods for him to eat. I tried a mandarin once and he starved. I thought the clown goby would eat brine shrimp better. I'll try the cyclopeeze and keep my fingers crossed. Also, I'll try the garlic idea on the brine. Thanks everyone.
