Hi all,

I have a 6 gallon nano w/ an Aquaclear 50 refugium and 100gp powerhead.
Currently 1 clown goby and I was wondering if I could safely add a second to keep this little guy company?
Thank you :)

I would hook that tank up to a larger sump if I were to add another fish. I'd also be very concerned about aggression in the tank. How big is the fish you have, what species is it, and how small of an individual can you get your hands on?

My yellow clown goby is very tiny, maybe an inch and a half from mouth to fin. I have access to yellow, green, and black clowns. I plan on ordering from LiveAquaria. Is the sump necessary with the refugium, extra powerhead, and ato for stability however? I don't like hob siphons and I don't want to drill the nano :/ If it comes to that I will pass on a second and happily live with my single clown goby :) Thank you so much for your reply!

The sump would be for stability, since an extra fish could cause enough of a swing in such a small tank.

Since it’s a yellow clown goby (G. okinawae?), I’m not sure. They’re more slim than the other coral gobies so I can’t say definitively one way or another yes or no.
