Hi please forgive me as I know this is going to be a very stupid question because I think I know the answer but would like more advice. I bought 2 clownfish from lfs about 2 months ago they were bigger and tank raised and bought them together because they have been together for a while in store and the lfs advised me it would be best to keep them together. Now the silly question.... will they lay eggs? Will this always happen if you have 2 or more clownfish?

They absolutely will lay eggs sooner or later. It might take a while if they are still fairly young. Mine took 4 or 5 years but they were tiny when I got them. Clowns are about the easiest fish there is to breed.

Thanks for the replies. What is your advice about when they do lay eggs as I wasnt planning on breeding but didnt think about laying the eggs before buying 2.

They are basically tiny snacks for the other fish in the display when they hatch. There is a lot required to raise the babies. Special tank, special food etc. I just let nature take it's course. Once they start laying they will do it every few weeks. Bright orange eggs to grey eggs to tiny little eyes you can see. Primarily the male tending the eggs.
