Clownfish pair in an 8 gallon??

One of my customers buying an 8 gallon from me wants to put a pair of clownfish in it, isn't 8 gallons too small? Also it has a few pounds of live rock in it (about 8 lbs?).

This is conjecture, but I think they will live. Of course 8 gallons is not ideal. Assuming they are the only sizable livestock, they may have just enough territory to be OK. I have seen this done but would never recommend this. My guess is that they would be very prone to stress.

I'm assuming ocellaris, she wants it in her newborn babies room. It got cancelled because apparently she thought OMAHA was local to Newton IA......omaha is in a different state.

I think it's a little too small as well, but from what I understand a 10 gallon tank is the norm when it comes down to commercially breeding these fish. Like mentioned above though, as long as they're the only fish in the tank and it's not jam packed full of live rock & corals they might be ok.

They'll breed in 5 gallon tanks as long as they are fed and the water condition is good. You can keep a pair and one of something else in a 10G without issues if you do weekly small water changes.

can you talk her into up grading to a ten gallon instead???

I wouldn't do it. If she has a baby, she's not going to want to keep up with the water changes she'll need to do to keep the water clean.
